The typical audience for a Thriller film is 14+ males, and we aimed to reach this audience as well.
However, we do use minor gore in our film (see figure 1) - so if this was to become a major release, the BBFC would probably rate this as a 15+.
The specifications for a 15+ film (from the official BBFC website) are as follows:
"What might I see in a 15 rated film or video?"
- Strong violence
- Frequent strong language (e.g 'f***')
- Portrayals of sexual activity
- Strong verbal references to sex
- Sexual nudity
- Brief scenes of sexual violence or verbal references to sexual violence
- Discriminatory language or behaviour
- Drug taking
"Yes, at 15 violence may be strong. It should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury, however, and the strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable."
Our media product uses brief gore, so a 15+ rating seems appropriate.
Other examples of 15 rated Thrillers include:
- Psycho (1960) [Strong violence]
- The Woman In Black: Angel of Death (2014) [Strong horror, psychological threat]
- Waar (2013) [Strong bloody violence]
good and again great blog work Alex.
