SURVEY FEEDBACK AND REACTIONS

We created a SurveyMonkey questionnaire gaining audience feedback on our ideas and intentions. Below is a sample of our feedback; We have replied to inquiries from Question 3.

QUESTION 1

Our film is based around a father (Elijah) who is seeking revenge after a rapist rapes and kills his daughter (Naomi). The rapist (Trent) has now been found dead and disfigured. The film will open with a detective (Gareth) interviewing the father. It's clear that Elijah was the one who killed the rapist to the audience (through flashbacks on screen), but an interrogation shows there is no evidence to prove he did it. So far, does this sound like a well put together storyline?

"Yes but only if it turns out to be a different killer and the flashbacks are all cleverly explained through the film."

"Not particularly.. If it's clear to the audience from the start that Elijah killed the rapist then I don't see how the plot can be gripping?.."

"Yes! I want to know what happens next!"

QUESTION 2

Based off of what you have read so far, would you be interested in watching this movie?

"Yes defiantly sounds like my kind of film"

"yes definitely, it has all of the ingredients for a movie that i love"

"Yes, very much so!

"No"

QUESTION 3

Do you have any question about the storyline? Doe any of it seem too complicated or far-fetched for the Thriller genre?

How long can the film last if it feels like all the answers are in place? It seems simple but by its premise it suggest complexity but how the story unfolds will determine if it is far fetched
- We will only be showing the first 2 minutes of the film, so not taken much of this into consideration. However, if we were to make this into a film, a lot of it would be character development and plot twists.

At what point in the film do you find out about the rape?
- We have two options; either expose this in the interrogation in the first two minutes, OR reveal this later in the story as part of the character development. Leaving it until later could make it more dramatic.

How will the audience know that the dad did it? And will there be evidence suggesting there are other suspects?
 - We will be showing an interrogation between Elijah and the detective, Gareth Cox. His story in the interrogation room will counteract what is on screen.

I just hope that as the film goes on, we start doubting Elijah's guilt!
That's the idea of the film - lots of doubt and confusion!

  1. Goos, especially for later when you do your evaluation.
Maintain this throughout and use it for when deciding what shots to use for editing, or how to edit etc,.
