MEG: EVALUATION: QUESTION 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

As a group we would need to consider that we have created a low budget thriller film, with the role of an independent British film institution, so ultimately we would need to be distributed by for example the following:

Pathe                                                                        Momentum Pictures

Studiocanal                                                PictureHouse Entertainment

                                Metrodome Distribution

Smaller distribution companies aren't able to go to events such as shows on the television or film premiers, so there are different ways to effectively share and distribute independent films without the expense.

Distribution is a term for "sharing" something with an audience. This means you will then be able to have a film exhibition. There is the tradition way which audiences can watch films in a cinema, however, technologies are growing stronger and there are more online access to films, such as sites like Netflix and Amazon Prime.

A small production company like our own, would suggest a distribution company to distribute our film over YouTube or Vimeo.
In our case we were our own distributors and shared it on YouTube. This can gain more views by different audiences sharing it to other social networking sites.

The effect can be big or very small depending on the reaction. Some people make money off of websites like YouTube through advertising.
